Ben Loehle is the co-founder and CEO of findCRA, an early-stage company with a massive vision to modernize and optimize the way banks find and support community needs. You see, every year banks spend billions of dollars in time and resources seeking the right nonprofits to support as a part of their obligations under the federal Community Reinvestment Act (CRA). When it comes to researching and building relationships or documenting their community support, bank processes have often been manual, time-consuming and imprecise. What findCRA has done here, is streamline this process… harnessing data from over 20 industry sources, their one-of-a-kind algorithm and search engine empower banks to not only find qualified nonprofit partners instantly, but also build relationships with them anytime, anywhere.
Ben and findCRA are making monumental change in their industry and in social impact investing. It’s a perfect example of how technology can help better connect us all, and in this case, help disadvantaged neighborhoods redevelop with the right partnerships.
Actually, working in real estate development myself, specifically in affordable and mixed income housing, I’ve been able to see the need for something like this first hand which is actually how Ben and I connected a few years ago, there’s a lot of alignment in the work Ben and I do!
ANDDD on top of starting a venture-backed company, Ben and findCRA found time recently to publish a book all about community reinvestment, called CRA at 40. And I was fortunate enough to be included as a contributor for the book.
